Surface Modification
UV Ozone Cleaning
UV Ozone Cleaning is an easily applicable and gentle technique for removal of organic contamination from a variety of surfaces, for improvement of their wetting behavior, their chemical activation, and their sterilization. Examples of suitable applications are, among others,
- Cleaning of substrates for surface plasmon resonance, quartz crystal microbalance, SERS, object slides
- Cleaning of AFM tips
- Cleaning of sensitive optics
- Hydrophilization of surfaces
- Activation of polymer surfaces for polymer/glass bonding processes
- Cross-linking of UV sensitive polymers
- Sterilization of biologically contaminated surfaces (e.g., of petri dishes, well plates, object slides)
Advantages over other methods for surface cleaning:
- Avoids wet chemistry
- Operation at normal atmospheric pressure
- Duration of cleaning process typically in the range of few minutes
